"My mom never stopped praying for me!" is a huge part of my salvation story. I was a prodigal son, lost in drugs and the occult, but my mom never gave up. She lived to see those prayers answered as I gave my life to Christ and entered into ministry. I believe in the power of prayer because I’ve lived it.
My mom was a fighter. She endured stroke after stroke, yet she never gave up. Eventually, I became the one praying for her harder than ever before.
I’ll never forget the day the ambulance came to take her. I didn’t think she’d make it to the hospital. It’s a surreal moment when the paramedics urgently ask, “IS SHE A DNR?!” as she lays there, pale, mouth open. But she made it. Doctors said she’d never eat or drink again, just fluids through IVs. But a week later, she was transferred to a nursing home and began to eat and drink. Prayer works.
God, in His wisdom, always knows best. My mom had always feared the tribulation of the last days. But in His mercy, God restored her mind beyond what it had been even a month prior. She could look at us and really see us and I believe she understood every word. She heard me tell her how much I love her, how amazing she was. She heard our powerful prayers and us singing praise and worship to her in her final hour.
God is good. All the time.
This shirt is in honor of my mom and her legacy, a legacy of prayer, perseverance, and faith. It's a testimony that God wasn’t done with me, even when I looked unredeemable. That He wasn’t done with my mom. And that He’s not done with ANY of us until our very last breath.
"He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." -Philippians 1:6
